Busy busy busy. Don Hertzfeldt is keeping me alive. Trey Spruance assisting. Becoming reawed anew every day at the simple difficulty of my task and it’s sustaining euphoria. Excited about the move. Do come down and say hi. New shop should be fabulous.
Work:
Again, my favorite band, I Am The Ocean, was in town. I know no finer living than when I am near these ceaseless warriors. Always killing it, never stopping. See them if you can. Drew allowed me to put the above madness on him. Love those kids.
Newschool colorbomb will never die. I’ll be slaying it with reflective curvy pencils when i’m 50. Watch me.

More work with focus and color staining. trying to work the paint in the paper, instead of on top of it. Water a hair too hot helping a bit- maybe destroying things. no idea.
I am more and more a psychotic paint-to-surface purist. I have for a long time forced myself not to refer to anything while drawing, now trying to extend it to painting. I figure if I need reference by the time I am getting down to work then I have not done my homework and all is lost. I think the Grime said “look once, hard and then never look again.” Very Prix De Rome. Almost all of the painting I have done in the last 4 or 5 months has been without line-work or premonition. Just brush to paper. No looking, just working. Put the color on the paper. No reference, all internal. Think I am starting to get somewhere. Thinking there is some sort of PRB marxist undercurrent- don’t understand it yet. more later.

finished a painting. working on a tangential fuzzy wavelength right now trying for transparency- diaphanous layers and out-of-focus bits. fun. or not. we’ll see.
